Qasr al Bint is the most impressive holy temple in Petra . This massive structure was built of stone, rather than being carved from rock. It faces north, toward the Sharra mountains, from which the name of the chief Nabatean god, Dushara ("he of Sharra") is derived, and may have been a sanctuary for the Dushara cult. |
